I mistakenly assumed that this vintage print I put in my last post, was of Rin Tin Tin. How many famous German Shepards are there, anyway? Well, I was wrong...
I removed the back, as it needs a bit of repair, and I discovered printing on the backside of the image. It looks like this print is actually an illustration from a book. According to the printing, this lovely dog is ...
Strongheart, the Wonder Dog!!
Somehow, that is so much cooler!
I have since discovered (I love google) that this came from a childrens book written by Lawrence Trimble in 1926, titled Strongheart - the Story of a Wonderdog.
How fun! I would have assumed it was Rin Tin Tin too. Don't you just love learning some of the history behind things you buy?
ReplyDeleteMy favorite book is about Strongheart. It is called "Kinship With All Life" by J.Allen Boone. He also wrote a book called "Letters to Strongheart". He took care of this amazing dog and had a special relationship!
